My October has been uneventful which I think is good? Some people may find it boring, but boring business as usual might be something that is wished for by some other people. Now that I think of it, it's not all business as usual. My body was having trouble and though it seems I am okay now, I know internally I'm not doing well. Then there's also sad news. One of my good friends' dad passed away. I thought I can put down into words how I feel about the deaths we're seeing at this age, but I can't find the right words to explain myself well. I don't even know if I fully understand how I feel, so I'm going to deflect and not talk about it. Somehow I think my friend is more mature in it. I know her support system is solid. I do think of her mom, but I know her family will rally around her.
Here's the deflection. The usual me just watch stuffs. I finished The Testaments which is a continuation to The Handmaid's Tale. I didn't know what to expect of it but I like it, though the world it's set on still makes my blood boils :( On a lighter thing, I also finished Jury Duty season 2 or to be more exact Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat. What's so nice and warm and fuzzy about it is that the hero was so positive and nice - like dude, you're so good. I definitely don't have that kind of patience or positive attitude which got me thinking what if it's a girl in that situation. Would be interesting if they choose a girl as the hero for the next season. Anyways, for now I'm finishing out Ted Lasso season 4. I don't know if it's just me or if it's the longer running time, but I found myself not captivated as much. They're still nice people over there and I wish them all the best, but maybe I was ready for it to be over when it was over the last time. After this I'm gonna watch Slow Horses and this is something I'm really looking forward to.
As for movies, I watched Digger in a cinema all by myself. If I told my mom, I know her reaction would be they're still showing it even though you're alone?!?! How do the cinemas survive? Well now I know the cinemas do not survive here in Singapore. I'm still very sad the cinema nearest to me don't get a new company to take over the space. I guess it's really hard since the previous two couldn't make it work and really went out of business. Then I thought of my cousin who said she would walk out if she's the only person in the cinema :D Well I stayed and maybe it's because I watched it during the day, it didn't feel ghostly creepy to me which I did weirdly feel the last time this happened to me - it's the darkness alone, you see. Anyways, I heard Digger was not doing well and I wondered if I would understand it. It's actually not bad. Tom Cruise was really good in it and I also have to say John Goodman was really good in it. If I think of John Goodman, I think of Roseanne and The Flintstones. I may have seen him in other things, serious things, but I was just amazed here, thinking that he's a really good actor. If there's anything that I don't like, it's the ending to Digger the character. Maybe I am mean, but if I really hate someone then I don't want them to just end in death. I want them to suffer in life. All and all Digger really wasn't that bad for me. Then I watched The Social Reckoning, another movie that's not doing well. The movie options in Singapore are not great currently :( The Social Reckoning was so so for me. There's no great conclusion. Facebook sucked and it still sucks - what are they doing to be better? To know that its algorithm brings people the wrong path easily is infuriating and I wonder what its impact was on the last Indonesian presidential election. I think so many people voted wrong and I wonder if it's because it's stupid Facebook leading them wrong, sigh :( I've been off Facebook for more than 10 years, so I don't know what it's like in there now. I don't think there's anything they can do to make me want to go back. I'm just way too antisocial I guess, but at least I'm less stupid I think.
